from the depths...
so, today was "college day" at school. it's basically sports day where we have different teams with students from different grades and they go around to different competitions. somehow I was in charge of a game and I didn't even know til like 15 min's before we were to go out. me, the school secretary and the PE teacher brain stormed at the last second to get me a game. all I ended up doing was a jump rope relay race. somehow, someway.... college day made EVERYONE tired. we were outside for about 1 1/2 hrs and we all came in exhausted. I was handing out Aleve to teachers and directions to my favorite foot massage place. it was just THAT KIND OF DAY. *yawn*
I really don't know what to write about... but I always come up with stuff to say if I keep typing. my mind tends to wander. hmmm... I just remembered I was supposed to talk with the principal about buying a learning game program. oh well, she didn't seem interested in it and I'm too tired to get into it with her right now. I think I'm gonna go get myself another cup of hot water. yeah, that sounds nice....
I think it's interesting how for over a week I was in lots of pain and then it suddenly mostly went away, except for the one or two muscle spasms I have been randomly having almost every day... yet when I fractured my back and when I was in the car accident I didn't even have ANY muscle spasms and so I would stop taking the muscle relaxants they prescribed for the non existent muscle spasms. (run on sentence that doesn't make sense!!!)
also, what race AM I? once, with a friend, I came up with the perfect description of what race I am but I forgot it... I know I could pass as a lot of races, and have been asked if I'm a number of races... I'm American, yet I'm so not.
seriously, I'm tired... I should go look at that youtube video that always makes me giggle... I'm glad I have weird friends like Jonder, Jinder and Jonder's best friend. if you watch this video, I dare you to not laugh at Jonder (he's the second one, the skiier). just too funny...
ok, yeah... that did it. got a giggle out of me, and I think I can make it through the rest of this long day now... holy cow! it's only 4:00!!!! I won't be home for about another 8 hrs.... *sigh* I need a nap....

head explosion... on student appreciation day
just a thought before I end this blog... I always read the news via www.fark.com (as well as netscape news and msn news, but that's not important) cuz they put the most random news from around the world. anyhow..... if you know me at all, you know that anything that has anything to do with language, I'm extremely interested in it. actually, I read an interesting article the other day about dying languages. but that's not why I'm writing this. I saw this article about "jargon" in the office. jargon is quite interesting. below is the article (feel free to leave me comments about jargon you find interesting used in your life... it seriously DOES interest me):
"Jargon is an inevitable part of office life and whilst it can often be regarded as baffling and frustrating, there are advantages to speaking the office lingo. These can range from bonding with a team to understanding mind-boggling conference calls."
So says David Clubb, managing director of the Office Angels recruitment firm. A list of new buzzwords compiled by the company includes "blamestorming" (yes, it was YOUR fault) and "boss-spasming" (where everyone tries to look busy when the boss enters the room).
Other useful expressions for those clawing their way to the top are:
• What I really need is some traction.
• Someone needs a bite of the reality sandwich.
• The juice ain't worth the squeeze.
• Put it in the fridge to snack on later.
• We need to bottom this out.
oh yeah... and I also read this article about WalMart in China . it made me smile cuz Jenn and I were talking about it the other day and reminiscing about it. I hope you enjoy reading about the stuff we can buy at WalMart in China... we miss it!

the number THREE
so now I'm gonna look at dictionary.com and see if I get anything from that...

6. three sheets in the wind. sheet2 (def. 3).
[Origin: bef. 900; ME; OE thréo, thrīo, fem. and neut. of thrī(e); c. D drie, G drei, ON thrīr, Goth threis, Gk treǐs, L trés three, ter thrice, Ir trí, OCS tri, Skt trī, tráyas]
and I just learned that "three sheets in the wind" means that a person is drunk. how random... why didn't I know that before?
Dear Yahoo!:
How did the phrase "three sheets to the wind" come to refer to being drunk?
Tippi
Dear Tippi:
Drink up, me hearties, yo ho! The sailing life gave us the intoxicating phrase "three sheets to the wind," although "three sheets in the wind" came first.
Among nautical folks, a "sheet" refers to the rope used to secure a ship's sail. On the square-rigged ships of yore, three sheets were needed to tie up the sails. So, if all three of the ship's sheets were loose in the wind, the sail would flop about and the ship would go off course -- rather like a drunken sailor staggering around on shore.
"Three sheets in the wind" was first recorded in 1821 by Pierce Egan in his work "Real Life in London." In those days, sailors had a rating system for their inebriation. "One sheet" was merely tipsy, and it went up to "four sheets," meaning unconscious. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum, indeed.
ok, so my ruminations about the number three went somewhere I totally didn't expect but I don't care. I learned something new. I never knew "three sheets to the wind" meant being drunk... and now I'll know how to classify levels of drunkenness in regards to sheets. haha
the revival of my blog
so, a certain friend of mine has been bugging me about writing blogs for many, many months cuz apparently I write entertaining blogs or something. I haven't really found much need to write anything yet before I used to write a lot whenever I wrote anything (especially in e-mails... they were more like NOVELS). my thoughts don't necessarily flow in a straight line or anything, but I'm pretty descriptive and I think what I have to say is typically entertaining.
today during this conference I'm working for at church, Banning said if you want to write books, you need to start small. DUHHH!!! I know it's obvious, but just hearing that reminded me of how much I like writing. (yeah, I know... any of you that receive e-mails or texts from me know EXACTLY what I'm talking about... notorious, I am) so here I am reviving my blog from the nothingness it was. feel free to laugh at my first two posts as I was goofing off with another teacher from my school when we registered the blogs and we didn't really take the 2 seconds it took to figure out what I was looking for. so yeah....
I hope that you come back here often to read what I have to say and leave me little comments. I love comments, even if they're stupid things like "hahaha I totally remember that" or "Sarah, you're so weird" or anything. writing a blog and never getting comments is much like writing an e-mail and never hearing back from the person. I promise that when I write a book and become big and famous that I'll mention that you commented on my blog! HAHAHA ok, yeah, I'm a dork...
if you have any suggestions on what to do with this blog or a topic, go ahead and let me know. I'm going to attempt to write in this thing daily (no promises, I said attempt!) and not always use it like a journal. sometimes I think of random things throughout the day or I have weird dreams or whatever and those will definitely be topics... and maybe sometimes I just had a crazy day or something and that will set the tone of the blog... but then other times you'll be surprised by what I write. you're in for a trip, people. fasten your seat belts and hold on! =0)
